Introducing Guided Mode: Home Phototherapy Made Easy

When you choose Phothera’s ClearLink Controller in Guided Mode, you choose safety, reliability, ease of use, and treatment accuracy, all in an intuitive, touchscreen control system. With Guided Mode, each prescription comes preloaded onto the device. Prior to each treatment, patients are asked to answer a question related to their last treatment. Depending on the provided answer, ClearLink’s onboard Smart technology automatically adjusts or maintains subsequent treatments, ensuring safe and effective treatments every time.

Guided Mode is Phothera’s new built-in treatment protocol system that standardizes narrowband UVB dosing according to AAD clinical guidelines. It ensures the same precision and safety patients receive in-office — now at home.

Why is Phothera switching to Guided Mode in Q1 2026?

Beginning Q1, all new Phothera home phototherapy devices will include Guided Mode by default.
The transition is driven by improvements in patient safety, adherence, and efficacy — ensuring every patient receives a medically appropriate, evidence-based regimen automatically.

Does Guided Mode change how I prescribe?

No — prescribing workflow remains identical. Skin type is required on the prescription.
Providers continue using the same Rx form. Guided Mode simply ensures each patient’s treatment plan follows evidence-based dosing automatically.

Do I need to be tech-savvy to operate the ClearLink Controller?

Not at all. If you can tap a screen, you can use the Controller. It’s designed to be user-friendly, even for those unfamiliar with technology.

How is a treatment prescribed and tracked?

Your provider will prescribe your specific treatment plan using the ClearLink Provider Portal or E-Form. The Controller follows those settings and tracks and stores your progress automatically.

Is the ClearLink Controller easy to use?

Yes! The touchscreen interface is intuitive and designed for patients of all experience levels. Guided Mode walks users through treatment, making the process simple and stress-free.

What if I have questions or need support?

The ClearLink Controller has a Dosimetry Mode, what is Dosimetry?

Basically, it is a built-in meter that constantly measures the UV output of the lamps in your device. This information is then forwarded to your control system where it is then “integrated” or added to the dose that has cumulated so far. It will continue this process until the delivered dose equals the desired dose at which time the device will shut off. For formula geeks, the equation is Time = Joules/cm2*16.67/milliwatts/cm2.
